A Southern Californian native, Elly Karipides grew up influenced by animation and storybook art. Therefore, she cultivated a passion for whimsical, dream-like and narrative illustration.
At Azusa Pacific University, she attained her BA in Fine Art and had her first show in 2002, entitled "Once Upon A Time." It showcased her original children's stories and illustrations using mediums of pen, watercolor, and marker.
Inspired by childhood daydreaming and doodling, Elly's main themes are often fantasy based, including imagery of gigantic animals, wistful girls, and love struck mermaids.
During the day, she works in graphic design. She also teaches elementary and jr. high fine art, communications, and other creative electives.
